After a long time and some updates a new beta with a setup is ready.
The main focus in this version was to fix some issues due updates made in both Amazon database and iTunes application.
CD Art Display should work properly again.
In addition, the new Skin Browser is still under development. The Upload feature will be reviewed since some additions are from known skins and not only new and original ones. That's why new skins were not added.
Finally, the idea is to update the translation (a lot of work ahead) and then release CD Art Display 3.0 final.

The new official and public release of CD Art Display is out!
CD Art Display 2.0.1 is a minor update that adds support for the new and encrypted Amazon.com API. Now CD Art Display search cover module (now version 2.0.2) can properly download covers from Amazon.com again.
In addition, CD Art Display screensaver module (now version 2.0.1) was updated just to remove application process APIs due some antivirus softwares false positive. Note that top notch antivirus, such as NOD32, were not detecting the screensaver module as a malware.
By the way, CD Art Display was using those APIs just to find if CAD.exe process was running or not. It was added during CD Art Display 2.0 beta because the regular FindWindow API was not working properly in an user PC. The original file with the process APIs will be available for those with such issues.
Finally, the main program (CAD.exe) was not changed so it is still labeled as 2.0.

Since August 15th, 2009 Amazon changed the way an application should request for any information including CD cover images. Now a request should be encrypted.
As a consequence, CD Art Display 2.0 search cover feature doesn't work anymore.
Fortunately there is a new search module (alpha version I may say) under testing, available for Premium Users for this purpose, that is working very well so far.
After some feedback and fine tuning the new module will be available for all users as always.
If you use this CD Art Display feature make sure to visit us next week because the new module should be ready for a public release.

Nice. It's good to know CDArtDisplay is still alive after so much time.
Good luck with new version. I use it for 3 or 4 years already and can not think using foobar without it. This time may be you can try to sell the engine to some players to monetize the project. Engine is pretty good.

How is it possible to do in the newer versions. I have a cover on the side all the time and want the text only to appear when the track is changed.

Also just on the way thought of a few features may be you would be interested to implement (at least they will be useful for me):
1. If not still in place autohide text feature and appear on the track change.
2. Add support when mouse on the cover to change it's transparency with the mouse wheel.
3. Add support of some simple key aka shift or cntrl - when mouse is over the cover you press the key and mouse can go sort of under the cover layer to do some activities behind it (may be transparency can be automaticly changed as well for that moment).
3. On the track change the cover will appear from let's say 30% opacity to a 100% for a few seconds.

nice to see CAD is alive, but still it wont run when i start winamp, same issue that was in CAD2 will u fix that in final version pls???
